Luxury polyphon type 45D double comb music box
Large and impressive music box by Polyphon.
Made in Leipzig Germany at the end of the 19th century.
The 40cm music box was a very popular box, resorting in different cases for the same mechanism. Some of them were single comb mechanism, the better quality however were the double comb mechanism making them sound very bright, in a sublime harmony tuning.
This box, model 45D, has it all. The 45 was the top model case and was very luxurious, the 'D' stands for the double comb arrangement.
Another possitive thing about these boxes is the availability of the discs, they are very easy to find. Making a library of music for these mechines is very easy, more discs are available
