Keywind overture music box

€13,900.00

Very nice and early overture music box, probably by Lecoultre (alltough unsigned).

The key wind mechanism plays 4 overtures with a nice and bright tone on a very fine comb. The fad cylinder is 29cm long.

The lid of the case is inlayed with a simetrical rosewood cartouche surounding a butterfly and some flowers. The interior of the ces is red, the side are simulated rosewood.

There is no tunesheet (there never was any attached to the inside of the lid). Most tunes are very well known, and have a rather unusual setting here and there.

Overture music boxes of this era are sought after and allways of very high quality!
